I’m a third year Modern Languages (French and Italian) student at the University of Birmingham. I am spending this year doing an Erasmus semester firstly at the Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France; then a second semester in Padova, Italy.

I suppose the main objective of this year is to improve my language skills, but I am also seeing it as a cultural eye-opener. I am finding that having to live in a different country is a lot different to just going on an extended holiday; there is a whole host of obstacles that comes with it (from opening a bank account in a foreign language to not being able to go to a supermarket on a Sunday…) However, so far the positives have outweighed the negatives by far!

I am also taking this opportunity to cover as much European soil as possible, and am attempting to blog about it along the way.
